WOMEN OF COURAGE
Part I of a two-part series geared at finding healing and true power for women who have been through trauma. This event invited men and women to come together to find a deeper connection to themselves and each other, eventually discovering that they are not alone in their experience or in their power.

MEDICINE WHEEL

MEDICINE WHEEL
The Medicine Wheel installation is designed to help one find balance and direction amongst the chaos of life. It uses the five aspects that make a balanced individual: nature; the physical, the mental, the emotional, and the spiritual; as a guide to navigate the often muddy waters of our relationships to ourselves, others, and the world around us. It serves as a way to focus and reconnect to the rhythms of the natural world.
For this installation, Sasha uses photography and poetry as a healing guide for women who have been through trauma. The women photographed are mentors for youth who have been through sexual, physical and other abuse. The mentors embody each step of the wheel to help guide the observer to what is the next right step for them on their journey to healing, such as forgiveness, mentorship, giving something up, or a clear vision. also clearly see what he or she may be skipping over in their healing that has them repeat the same behavior or feel stuck.
This installation was created as part of an immersive Medicine Wheel experience designed to raise money for at-risk youth in South Central LA. It raised more than $100,000 for its initiative.
Exhibited at COMUNITYmade in DTLA and Neutra in Silver Lake, 2018-2019.
